Dr. Vivian Bucay, a board certified dermatologist in private practice since 1991, is recognized for her expertise in minimally invasive facial rejuvenation through the combined use of neuromodulators, fillers, and energy based devices. Dr. Bucay’s credentials span a wide scope of biomedical research, patient care, and medical education. Dr. Bucay practiced in Mexico City from 1991-1999 before relocating to San Antonio with her husband and three daughters. Licensed in both the United States and Mexico, she is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, completing her undergraduate studies in 1983 while serving as a research assistant at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center. She earned her MD in 1987 from Houston-based Baylor College of Medicine. After completing an internship in pediatrics in 1988, Dr. Bucay began a residency in dermatology at The University of Miami School of Medicine, which she then completed at Baylor College of Medicine in 1991. Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Bucay serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physician Assistant Studies of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. Dr. Bucay serves as faculty on several continuing medical education initiatives in the USA and internationally. She is sought for speaking engagements and has been featured as a keynote speaker across the globe on a wide scope of topics ranging from innovations in facial aesthetics to neuromodulators to cancer survival. A personal battle with stage 4 melanoma has enabled Dr. Bucay to connect with her patients in a unique way. Cancer free since August 2007, her victory has been an inspiration to her patients. The Bucay Center for Dermatology and Aesthetics was proud to sponsor the Miles for Melanoma 5K Run in San Antonio in 2015 and 2016, which has raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Melanoma Research Foundation. Passionate about skin wellness, Dr. Bucay serves as a consultant to many companies and has been featured as a skin expert in numerous publications, including Allure, Good Housekeeping, Elle, More, Marie Claire, Shape, Men’s Health, Prevention, and Fitness. She is also the author or co-author of many publications and has been involved in several studies evaluating emerging cosmeceuticals. Since 2004, Dr. Bucay has been recognized yearly as a “Texas Super Doctor” in Texas Monthly magazine. In 2016, she was voted Best Dermatologist by the San Antonio Current.

Rachna Bhandari, MD, PhD is a board-certified Dermatologist and diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She is excited to have joined Dr. Vivian Bucay where she can offer personalized care for her patients. She moved with her husband Amitabh Bhandari, an anesthesiologist, along with their two sons from Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Bhandari was born in India and came to the US with her parents and two sisters at 6 months of age. She grew up in Staten Island, NY and completed her Bachelors in Science in both Biochemistry and Chemistry at the Honors College at the City University of New York, College of Staten Island in 2003. She was then accepted into a combined physician scientist training program at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. This program combines the complete training of medicine, culminating in the MD degree, along with intensive research, which Dr. Bhandari focused her research in learning and memory under the direction of Dr. Todd Sacktor and obtained her PhD in Neural and Behavioral Sciences. While in the graduate portion of her studies, her father developed bullous pemphigoid, an immunoblistering disorder which peaked her interest in Dermatology. She did her internship in Medicine at Staten Island University Hospital, joined the dermatology residency training program at the University of Buffalo and then completed the final two years of her training at the University of North Carolina.
